In 2005, Naná Vasconcelos, one of the most famous percussionists in the world, traveled through his native country Brazil in search of the music of the spirit and the spirit of the music. “Naná’s diary” is a documentary which plays with two senses of music as the percussionist meets characters who, through noise, produce music. They use the irregular, unstable and inconsistent frequency of noise and give rhythm to it. These noises are the messengers between nature and culture through the paths of music. At the same time, Naná dives into the religious music of Bahia, famous for its strong African roots and rituals. He surfaces the power of rhythms and sounds to reconnect man and nature to the primordial and divine.
