In 1945, in the wilderness of Pernambuco, Dona Lindu gave birth to her seventh son: Luiz Inácio da Silva, who received the nickname of “Lula”. In the ’70s Lula’s path underwent deep personal and professional transformations. As a union leader he emerged as a refreshing political force and that was when Dona Lindu realized that the boy was going to be someone important. He would have a profession. Lula, The Son of Brazil tells the saga of the Silva family, a saga like many other families in Brazil.
“We have not made a film about a politician or the president, but about a common man, his family and the extraordinary ability to overcome difficulties,” – Luiz Carlos Barreto, creator of the project.
