The consequences of giving in to temptations are the subject of this dark, graphic look at the powerful interconnectedness of human lives. Based on Mario Mendoza’s novel of the same name, Satanás is inspired by true events surrounding Bogotá’s 1986 Pozzetto Massacre.

Andrés Baiz was born in Cali, Colombia, in 1975. He graduated from New York University’s Tisch School of the Arts (film and TV), with a minor in cinema studies. Baiz produced four short horror films with the French director Raphael Nadjari. Satanás is based on the novel by Colombian writer Mario Mendoza. It won the Colombian Cinema Award at the Cartagena Film Festival, Best Colombian Film at the Bogotá Film Festival and was the official submission from Colombia to the Academy Awards. Satanás is Baiz’s first feature film.
