The story of Ana, Verónica, Marta and Toro – four lonely people enduring the routine and silence of the south. They get together for meals, walks on the beach, ferry trips or simply in the quest for company with no need for words. Somehow they reaffirm their existence in this search for love, sex and affection, and ultimately find themselves.

Born in Chile in 1975, José Luis Torres Leiva has directed several short films and a documentary. He won the distinguished Fondart State Award for his 16-mm short Los muertos (1998) at the age of 23. El cielo, la tierra y la lluvia is his first feature film and has already won the International Film Critics Award in Rotterdam and Best Film at the Mexico City Film Festival.
