May Days tells the story of the romance between two young adults beginning at the very hectic “Rosariazo” days (a series of student riots, strikes and demonstrations May - September 1969) up to the moment of the first moon landing in July that same year. Laura is a politically active student. She majors in philosophy and loves acting. Her dream is to become an actress and she’s working on a play based on Anton Chekov’s “The Seagull”. Pablo is a freelance photographer and a cameraman for a TV station. Laura and Pablo first meet while escaping the attacks of the riot police as they take shelter in his apartment, together with Miguel, a fellow activist, and Dante, a rock musician as well as Pablo’s roommate.

 

Días de mayo cuenta una historia de amor de dos jóvenes que comienza en los agitados días del “Rosariazo” (una serie de huelgas, protestas y demostraciones en mayo de 1969) hasta el momento en que el hombre llega a la Luna en julio del mismo año. Laura (Agustina Guirado) es militante universitaria, estudia Filosofía, quiere ser actriz y prepara una obra basada en un personaje de La Gaviota de Chejov. Pablo (Santiago Dejesus) es fotógrafo free lance y camarógrafo de un canal de tv, hace documentales con la misma cámara de 16mm con la que trabaja, registrando la realidad para la televisión. Se conocen escapando de la represión policial en una manifestación y se refugian en el departamento de él junto a Miguel (Juan Nemirovsky), otro manifestante, y Dante (Antonio Birabent), un músico de rock que vive con Pablo.

 
 
Gustavo Postiglione has made over ten feature films. His work is part of the renewal in Argentinean cinematography in the past ten years. His trilogy, (El Asadito, El Cumple and La Peli) is an inescapable part of the new Argentinean cinema. He was the object of several retrospectives in different parts of the world, such as Paris (2005) and Madrid (2007). Expositions of his work are in preparation in Berlin and Bilbao for next year. He is Director of the Production Center and Professor of Communications at UNR; Professor at TEA Imagen television school (Buenos Aires); and Professor at the Instituto Superior de Cine de Santa Fe (Santa Fe Film Institute). He also taught at the Escuela Provincial de Cine y TV (Rosario Film School) and the International Film School of San Antonio de los Baños, Cuba.
