The prize was presented by the French actress, Emmanuelle Béart. The President of the Caméra d'Or Jury, Gael Garcia Bernal, talked of a "very special film, made with great care and a lot of love." The winning director notably thanked his native Mexico for having created his characters, and dedicated the award to his daughter. The award for best first film at Cannes is known as the Camera d'Or; the other mexican film competing for this award was "Somos lo que Hay". The film was selected in the parallel section Quinzaine des Realisateurs (Director's Forthight).

Synopsis: Laura is a single, 25-year-old journalist who lives in a small apartment in Mexico City. After a long series of flings, Laura meets Arturo.
