Chile he knew is no longer. Instead, he finds a country where even his old colleagues have changed their stripes.

 

¿De qué tipo de secretos habla esta película? Hay un poco de todo: asesinato, robo, traición, pero también otros que no tienen la más mínima importancia. En este juego de dominó lo serio convive con el humor y el sinsentido. Secretos nos cuenta cómo, tras largas décadas de exilio, un ex-militante de izquierda vuelve a Chile a saldar cuentas con su conciencia, relacionadas con la muerte de un compañero y legendario líder socialista llamado “la voz del pueblo.” Pero su mirada chocará con el país actual, descreído, lejos de las antiguas ideologías y donde todos, incluso sus viejos colegas, han cambiado de piel.

Valeria Sarmiento’s career as a filmmaker began in 1972. In November 1973, she left Chile for exile in Europe. For the past
30 years, Sarmiento has continuously worked on shorts and features, fiction and documentary, in Europe and in Latin America. In 1984, Sarmiento made her debut feature Notre Marriage, a Grand Prix winner at the San Sebastián Film Festival. Sarmiento is also the acclaimed editor of numerous films by Raúl Ruiz, Luc Moullet and Robert Kramer.
