Cannes Festival announces its official selection with three Latin American Films.
The official selection of the LXII Cannes Festival was presented to the press in Paris where traditionally takes place at the Gran Hotel du Paris by its president Gilles Jacob and its artistic director, Thierry Frémaux.
Fifty two films complete the list of Cannes official selection, representing 23 countries in its ford sections: Competition, Specials Selections, Out of Competition and Un Certain Regard. 1670 films were submitted to the festival and 46 will be world premiers.
This year the competition has a strong Spanish content but not Latin American. Pedro Almodovar will be at Cannes with his last film “Los Abrazos Rotos”, another Spanish filmmaker, Isabel Coixet will present her film “Map of Sound” also in the competition. Alejandro Amenabar is the third Spanish filmmaker in Cannes showing off competition his film “Agora”. One filmmaker from Latin America will be in the competition, the Argentinean filmmaker Gaspar Noe with the French produced film, “Enter the Void”. Two Latin-American films will be in Un Certain Regard, "A Deriva” from the Brazilian director Heitor Dhalia and “Los Viajes del Cuento” from the Colombian Ciro Guerra.

• The time that remains by Elia Suleiman (Palestinian)
• Inglourious Basterds by Quentin Tarantino (United States)
• Vengeance by Johnnie To (Hong Kong)
• Visages (Face) by Tsai Ming-Liang (Malaysia)
• Antichrist by Lars von Trier (Denmark)
Off-competition screenings:

The jury
Huppert, who has twice won best actress winner, is to head the jury. Other jurors are:
• Asia Argento (Italy), actress, director, screenwriter;
• Nuri Bilge Ceylan (Turkey), director, screenwriter, actor;
• Lee Chang-Dong (South Korea), director, screenwriter;
• James Gray (United States), director, screenwriter;
• Hanif Kureishi (Britain), novelist, screenwriter,
• Shi Qi (Taiwan), actress;
• Robin Wright Penn (United States), actress;
British director John Boorman will head a second jury which will judge short films.
