Oscar-Winning Cinematographer, Guillermo Navarro (ASC, AMC), Will Speak at the VLAFF Master Lighting Workshops
Guillermo Navarro, the 2007 Oscar-recipient for Best Achievement in Cinematography for Pan’s Labyrinth, will be the key speaker at the Master Lighting Workshops on Sept 5th- 6th 2008. The workshops will be held at the Vancity Theatre, 1181 Seymour Street, and are part of the 6th annual Vancouver Latin American Film Festival.
VLAFF is pleased to announce that award-winning cinematographer, Guillermo Navarro (ASC, AMC), will be attending the Master Lighting Workshops as the key speaker on September 5-6, 2008 at the Vancity Theatre. The two-day intensive seminars are part of the 6th Annual Vancouver Latin American Film Festival.
Guillermo Navarro has been invited to participate in the workshops to share his in-depth knowledge and insight into the craft of filmmaking. The Mexican-born cinematographer has a long list of film credits to his name, including: Hellboy II: The Golden Army (2008), Blood Brothers (2007), Night at the Museum (2006), Spy Kids (2001), Stuart Little (1999), Jackie Brown (1997) and From Dusk Till Dawn (1996). In 2007, Mr. Navarro won an Academy Award for Best Cinematographer for his work in Pan’s Labyrinth (El Laberinto del Fauno).
The Master Lighting Workshops will run from 9:00am to 5:00pm on Sept 5th and 6th and will bring together esteemed industry professionals and suppliers from Canada and abroad to share their expertise on the intricate areas of filmmaking, such as: lighting, makeup and the latest in film, high definition and digital technologies.
Tickets are $35 (one-day pass) and $60 (two-day pass) and are available through www.vlaff.org. Starting August 25th, tickets will also be available at the VLAFF Ticket Outlet at Pacific Cinémathèque.
